Orthoceras fossil jewellery really inspires the imagination. They were ancient mollusks that lived more than 400 million years ago. They are ancestors to the modern day squid. Even though they were among the earliest forms of life, this class of nautiloid is still considered one of the most intelligent forms of ocean life.Their shells fell to the floor of the ocean when they died, where the shells were covered in sediment. Here they eventually became stone and are preserved in black limestone. Our authentic Orthoceras specimens are from Morocco.
