Turritella is an agate made up of many small fossilized sea snails deposited in an series of ancient lakes . The shells are spiral and cone-shaped, and usually less than two and a half centimeters in length. The rock substrate is a dark brown.The specimen has been polished to bring out the fossils which show up white in the darker matrix. Each piece has several turritellas exposed.
